According to reports from the residence, a male University of the Western Cape (UWC) student, whose full name has not been disclosed, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, a female Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) student, in a CPUT residence. The incident unfolded shortly after a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) march at UWC. Motivated by recent revelations of infidelity, the girlfriend, whose full name is also undisclosed, is currently hospitalized and fighting for her life.

It is reported that the young lady has been rushed to the hospital, still alive but facing a critical condition after sustaining multiple stab wounds in her stomach and her back.
